Norilsk pensioner won all-Russian competition

Having mastered computer literacy, Lyudmila Rodina now helps others in difficult situations.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Two residents of the Krasnoyarsk region – Lyudmila Rodina from Norilsk and Nikolay Rudakov from Minusinsk – won the all-Russian competition of pensioners’ personal achievements in mastering computer literacy Thanks to the Internet – 2023.

More than 5,5 thousand works were submitted to the competition, of which 218 were applications from the Krasnoyarsk region, which allowed our territory to become the eighth among the most active territories in teaching computer literacy to older citizens.

Nikolay Rudakov lives in a municipal home for veterans and attends a computer class. 77-year-old pensioner, visually impaired. In the competition, he won first place in the My Internet Achievements category.

Lyudmila Rodina has her own story that precedes her victory in the category Portal gosuslugi.ru: My Experience. It happened that the woman became a disabled person of the first group, having lost her arms and legs. Having mastered the computer and the capabilities of the gosuslugi.ru portal, Lyudmila Rodina was not only able to fill out an application for imported prostheses and major apartment renovations, but also began to help other people with disabilities prepare applications for technical rehabilitation equipment, call a doctor at home, make an appointment with a doctor and other.

As Irina Pastuhova, minister of social policy of the Krasnoyarsk region, noted, knowledge of computer technologies and the ability to use them can make the pensioners’ life more interesting, simpler, more active, and also expand their circle of friends.

Free courses on teaching computer literacy to older people are offered in cities and districts of the region on the basis of comprehensive centers for social services for the population and in branches of the people’s university Active Longevity.

As Natalya Garashchenko, head of the Norilsk branch, said, they have more than 110 listeners. The vast majority are interested in information technology. But not only: training at the people’s university was conducted in seven areas. And now three more have been added to them: photography, embroidery and English.
