#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Today, a footballet (football + samolet (russian for aircraft) = footballet) arrived in Norilsk from Moscow. This is how the Norilsk Nickel players call the Boeing-737–800 with a unique design. The tail of the plane has the FC logo: a growling polar bear with a football. It personifies the unyielding will and spirit of the team.
At the airport, the players who arrived home on the new aircraft after a winning streak of games in other cities of Russia were met by… a bear. This was the first appearance of the team’s new mascot.
The mascot does not have a name yet. And we really hope for your help, dear readers. Send your ideas for how to name the bear for the football players to the FC Telegram channel before November 22.
We will shortlist the most interesting suggestions for the voting, which will take place on the Severny Gorod MC website. By the way, this is already becoming a tradition: the sports hall Aika, where the home games of the futsal club Norilsk Nickel are held, was once named in honor of the polar bear Aika, who lived in the apartment of the Norilsk TV studio director Yury Ledin in the 1970s.
