#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The first youth team of the Major League appeared in the Krasnoyarsk region. It is now the Norilsk Nickel main team’s backup.
The creation of the double became part of the cooperation between the Siberian Federal University (SFU) and the mini-football club. The team has been training on the basis of the university infrastructure for three months already, currently participating in the Major League competitions, and in the winter it is preparing to host the first home games.
The club signed a cooperation agreement with SFU in August. The parties are implementing joint projects with the support of the Football Federations Union Siberia and the regional children’s and youth sports school.
The agreement was concluded on a university material base with rich mini-football traditions. The youth team is an additional motivation for young football players to get into professional sports and at the same time get a higher education. The youth team includes not only Physical Culture Institute students, but also representatives of various specialties, including engineering and technical.
One aspect of the agreement between the university and the club provides opportunities for northerners who have been involved in club sections since childhood to become part of the youth team. Norilsk has all the conditions for this. The city has been implementing a joint program of the Futsal Association of Russia and the Nornickel company’s Futsal to School: Arctic Region project, designed for schoolchildren from the territories where the company operates. The strongest teams from each region directly becomes participant in the all-Russian finals of the Futsal to School project in the Moscow region, where they gain unique competitive experience, competing with peers from all over the country.
“Children after graduating from school in Norilsk, can continue their sports career in Krasnoyarsk, while they are given the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in the country. We are for talented athletes from any corner of the Krasnoyarsk region to be able to get into the team, to represent the region. I am sure that our youth team will show worthy results in the Premier Futsal League, all conditions have been created for this”, said Alexey Dyachenko, the Nornickel’s Krasnoyarsk representative office director.
