#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The VI city conference of young nature explorers has kicked off in Norilsk, organized by the Taimyr Reserves united directorate in partnership with local preschool institutions. The week-long event began at kindergarten No. 97 Svetlitsa.
This year, 31 institutions submitted applications to participate in the educational project. The conference theme, Symbols of Unique Natural Territories of Russia, focuses on the reserves, sanctuaries, and national parks of the Krasnoyarsk region. In addition to the five specially protected natural areas that are part of the Taimyr Reserves united directorate, the region includes the Sayano-Shushensky reserve (whose symbols are the snow leopard and the Siberian ibex), the Tunguska reserve (featuring a mysterious meteorite and Siberian taiga), Krasnoyarskie Stolby (unique rock formations), and other protected wildlife areas.
“Participants in the conference have been assigned 12 topics for their presentations. Each preschooler will represent their own ‘reserve island’ with a specific symbol, sharing their knowledge with the audience”, explained Irina Mesropyan, a leading specialist in the department of environmental education and tourism at the Taimyr Reserves united directorate.
After the Svetlitsa kindergarten, the next event will be held at the preschool institution No. 98 Zagadka in Kayerkan.
