#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Oleg Klyuchagin, a graduate of sports school No. 4 (coaches Maxim Trofimov and Vladimir Laznik), has been included in the national team to participate in the World Championship.
The athlete received an invitation having had a number of successful performances: at the Russian Championships, where Oleg became a tournament finalist (let us recall: he took second place in the championship in his weight category, winning in turn against boxers from St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tambov, and lost only in the final in an equal fight to a Moscow representative; such a result not only brought him to the base of the Russian team, but also allowed him to fulfill the standard of master of sports of Russia); at the Eurasian Cup Dauria (the Norilsk resident won a bronze medal, having lost in the semi-finals in an equal fight to the winner of the European Championship from Armenia). Oleg is also a two-time winner of the Siberian Championship, a prize winner of the Russian Championship last year, and a participant in the VII International Games Children of Asia.

“All this led to the fact that the coaching council of the Russian Boxing Federation included Oleg in the roster for the World Championship, which will be held from October 20 to November 4 in Budva, Montenegro”, said the athlete’s coach Maxim Trofimov.
It should be said that from our entire region, the last time a boxer competed at the World Junior Championship among 17-18 year olds was 24 years ago, and never from Norilsk: Oleg will be the first.
Assessing the chances of his protégé at the prestigious competition, his coach notes that Oleg’s chances of success are very good:
“Russia is a boxing power with a very high level of boxing in general, and Oleg has been in the elite of his weight class for several years now. I consider athletes from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Cuba to be his main rivals. Although there may be dark horses: ordinary boxers do not go to the World Championships”.
