#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In 2016, the management of the Polar Transport Branch (PTB) decided to create a modern sports and recreation complex. To bring the idea to life required a complete reconstruction of the old sports hall.
From 2017 to 2020, a huge amount of work has been done to demolish and expand the sports facilities, with a total area of 656 square meters.
The first part of the sports complex – a gym – was commissioned in July 2019. Equipped with the latest ergonomic equipment and tools, the hall has become one of the best sports venues in the city, a place that port workers enjoy visiting.
The main sports hall has recently been opened. The opening ceremony was attended by Alexey Novakov, director of the Polar Transport Branch of Norilsk Nickel, and Sergey Rotanov, director of the Procurement Department of Nornickel.
“I am glad that we have fulfilled the dream of the athletes of our branch and, by the way, my dream, too – we have built this magnificent sports and recreation complex. Not every company can boast of its own sports facility of this level. I congratulate all of us on this momentous event. I wish you all the strongest health, new sporting heights and excellent results”, said Alexey Novakov.
A special feature of the sports facility is considered to be the stands for fans, which allow everyone to actively follow the players and teams participating in competitions in various sports: volleyball, basketball, badminton, tennis, futsal and others. The hall will host not only sports, but also cultural events.
In order not to spoil the floor, a special floor covering that allows placing technical equipment was purchased.
In addition, the facility is equipped with new ventilation, shower cabins. Windows and spectator stands are protected by a special high-strength mesh.
“I personally tested each simulator in our gym, I know how to handle it correctly. I have seen many such objects, even abroad, but I can confidently say that our hall is one of the best that I have met. The most modern simulators, a variety of sports equipment, comfortable locker rooms and showers – all that is necessary for full-fledged sports activities”, the PTB specialist Alexander Sabelfeld shared his opinion.
