#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Nornickel company purchased a modern computed tomography scanner worth 49 million rubles for the Norilsk interdistrict polyclinic No. 1. The device was delivered to the city by the Northern Sea Route on the Nadezhda diesel-electric ship.
Before installing the apparatus in the clinic, it was necessary to carry out preparatory repairs to the rooms for technological equipment. It consisted, first of all, in protection from ionizing radiation: all surfaces of the offices were covered with a special plaster mixture, security doors, glass windows and shutters were installed, an X-ray protective window between the treatment room and the control room.
Nornickel financed the entire preparatory stage. In total, the costs amounted to 56 million rubles.
“With the advent of the new apparatus, we will be able to provide here a full cycle of studies on radiation diagnostics”, said Ivan Kryuchkov, chief physician of the Norilsk interdistrict polyclinic No. 1. – We already have a magnetic resonance imaging scanner and a fully equipped X-ray department. Patients will receive the full range of necessary radiation examinations: the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the brain, as well as all organs and systems that can only be viewed on a CT scanner. A very necessary, very significant event for the outpatient service of the city, the need for it has existed for a very long time. Many thanks to the company for such a necessary acquisition for the townspeople”.
