#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center, together with colleagues from the Siberian Federal University, have developed a system for the controlled delivery of antiseptic drugs using biodegradable microparticles. The development will be in demand in skin surgery to prevent infections.
The new system advantages are that it has increased efficiency, provides reduced toxicity and is easy to use. In controlled delivery systems, drug carriers are capsules made of micro- and nanoparticles, which slowly and controlledly release the drug loaded into them.
The antiseptic release from the created microspheres during the study proceeded at a high rate, which gradually increased by 2.5 percent per day over the course of a month. In this case, there was no explosive release of the drug.
Scientists tested the effectiveness of the new particles on E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
