#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Taimyr residents can gain access to modern high-tech services in IT camps. The new commissioner for the rights of indigenous minorities in the Krasnoyarsk region, Grigory Dyukarev, spoke about this idea.
In an interview with the online publication FederalPress, he noted that he had studied the experience of implementing such a project using the example of the Hanty-Mansiysk autonomous district.
“Stationary satellite dishes are installed at the camps. Where possible, cellular communication modules are used. Representatives of indigenous peoples gain access to telemedicine, educational projects, state and municipal services, have the opportunity to report violations of environmental legislation, and interact more effectively with their fellow countrymen in chat rooms. I was pleasantly surprised when a local entrepreneur, directly from his camp, negotiated the supply of products to cafes and restaurants. He does not need to travel to discuss any details. There are quite a lot of such examples, they need to be accumulated, landed on the Krasnoyarsk region territory and implemented”, said the ombudsman.
He also spoke about the need to create transport and logistics centers. According to Dyukarev, by November-December, remote villages begin to experience a shortage of food products. Taimyr’s eastern neighbors – Yakutia – solved this problem by building five transport and logistics centers in the most remote settlements.
“They note that the cost of food has decreased and the range has expanded. People don’t need to stock up products, they know for sure that they can always buy them”, he explained.
The commissioner also noted that modern technologies can be useful even when grazing deer. For example, satellite collars, with the help of which herders can find deer that stray from the herd.
