#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Residential buildings in Taimyr villages will now be built not from panels, but from timber. The draft of the corresponding bill was prepared by the Agency for the Development of the Northern Territories. The document has already been approved by deputies from the Committee on Northern Affairs and recommended to their colleagues to adopt it at a session of the Legislative Assembly in two readings at once.
Let us recall that a program to improve the living conditions of indigenous families leading a traditional way of life has been operating in the Krasnoyarsk region since 2011. About twenty residential buildings are built annually. In 2024, the amount of social payments for the construction of a house is indexed and now is more than eight million rubles.
“Residents of the northern territories who received such social payments complained about the quality of the houses being built. Objects built using frame technology cannot withstand the harsh climatic conditions of the Far North”, said Natalya Astahova, the temporary head of the agency. “In this regard, we propose to provide this social payment for the construction of houses made of wood”.
As Natalya Astahova noted, in the Turuhansk district there is already positive experience in the construction of such residential buildings; there have been no complaints about the quality from residents.
“We believe that the proposed changes will make it possible to provide residents of the northern and Arctic territories of the region with quality housing, as well as increase the efficiency of spending budget funds”, she added.
