#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Different generations of football players are going to play in the mini-football tournament for the Aika sports hall’s prize: the first matches were held in Norilsk the day before.
The tournament was organized by the Taimyr Football and Futsal Association. In total, eight teams will take part in the competition. They include 15-18 aged pupils of the different generations of the mini-football sports school No.6 coaches. The eighth squad was assembled from athletes-pupils of different sports schools under the age of 30 years.
“The Aika sports hall has quite a rich sports agenda. Our new events are not only popular with the Norilsk people, but also serve the development of sports. In addition to the games of the Norilsk Nickel home futsal team, we develop football for children, who are coached by mentors from a professional club; about 200 children from low-income families play futsal with the same coaching staff.
Now we at Aika have launched the Tournament of Generations project, which involves several generations of football players who played in Norilsk at different times and brought sports glory to the city. We are sure that they all have their own fans who will not leave the halls empty”, said Sergey Tkachenko, the Nornickel’s Polar Branch deputy director for asset development, at the tournament opening.
The Tournament of Generations is being held with the Nornickel assistance. The company supports the sports development in Russia and Norilsk, and actively develops the corporate sports movement. Futsal is one of the key sports in the city.
Earlier, we told about the Aika sports hall first anniversary celebration: invited Russian football stars met with their fans and answered questions.
