#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At the end of November, the twentieth corporate mini-football tournament of Nornickel will take place at the Zapolyarye sanatorium in Sochi. This year the competition will bring together 17 teams from all regions of the company’s presence.
The guests will be the Russian Football Union ambassadors: world champion in beach soccer Boris Nikonorov, champions and winners of the Russian Cup Ruslan Nigmatullin and Ruslan Pimenov, European champion among youth teams Alexey Gasilin, as well as Media League star Mikhail Krapivnikov from the People’s Team.
The celebrity guests will hold a master class for children, play an exhibition match against the Norilsk Nickel team, answer questions from fans, and also award the winners of the corporate tournament.

I know how much people at Nornickel love sports, and especially football, and corporate teams purposefully prepare for the tournament, combining training with their main work. I would like to wish everyone great games, good mood and continue to love football just as much!”, noted the legendary goalkeeper, three-time Russian football champion Ruslan Nigmatullin.
This is the third event in 2023, which is jointly implemented by Nornickel and the Russian Football Union (RFU). In July, a football team of famous players had already visited Norilsk, where they took part in unique football challenges on the territory of the active quarry Medvezhy Roochey (eng.: Bear Creek), and a month later, on the territory of the Kola peninsula, they set a Russian record, taking a series of penalties on board a real icebreaker, part of Nornickel’s Arctic fleet.
Let us remind you that Nornickel has been a partner in RFU development programs since 2021. The agreement provides for the implementation of joint projects to develop children’s and youth football, popularize and promote this sport. Earlier, the first generation tournament in Russia was held in Norilsk.
