#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. From January 1, 2024, all cameras included in the video surveillance system will be 100 percent operational. The project arose in 2021; in 2023, the Norilsk mayor’s office announced a competition, its winner was the Russian developer of digital solutions for the state and business – Sitronics Group.
Today, 500 video cameras are already being used in test mode. A data storage system with a memory capacity of about 400 terabytes can store video material in good quality from all cameras for at least 30 days.
About 700 million rubles were allocated for the project implementation; the work will be done in two stages, from 2023 to the first quarter of 2025.
According to the plan for the socio-economic development of Norilsk until 2035, up to ten thousand cameras will be connected to the comprehensive video surveillance system, according to the mayor’s website.
The system includes video analytics technology using artificial intelligence, which makes it possible to recognize various scenarios of the situation in the surveillance perimeter: crossing lines, crowds of people, counting their number, detecting abandoned objects. It is also capable of recognizing vehicle registration plates and facial biometric patterns.
A comprehensive video surveillance system helps monitor the removal of snow and debris by contractors, respond to or prevent crime in public spaces and on roads. Cameras monitor warm bus stops, airports, and public places.
