#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Novosibirsk company Sigma has developed a system based on artificial intelligence that helps in teaching the blind and visually impaired. The system allows visualizing finger movements in the form of a heat map, said the company’s executive director Margarita Frolova.
“My team and I have developed a system for automating learning for the blind and visually impaired using artificial intelligence. The main product is a web service that can visualize the movement of the fingertips of the blind in the form of a heat map, based on data from the user’s camera”, TASS quotes her as saying.
We are talking about a hardware and software system developed by specialists with a fixed web camera that recognizes and tracks the hand of a blind person, transferring these movements to a heat map. The system has no analogues, Frolova noted.
There are currently about 26 000 teachers working with the blind in the country. The basis of their work is tracking the movements of students’ fingers.
