Vostok Oil project estimated at 37 billion barrels

September 10, 2020

An important competitive advantage over other world suppliers is the ability to transport the oil by large-capacity tankers.

The reserves and potential resources of the Vostok Oil project in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region exceed 37 billion barrels of oil equivalent. This is stated in the materials of Rosneft.

The light and low-sulfur crude of the project is superior in quality to Brent and ESPO grades. Also, the raw materials of the Vostok Oil project have access to the Northern Sea Route, and this opens up access to the European and Asian markets. In addition, an important competitive advantage over other world suppliers is the ability to transport by large-capacity tankers.

Recall that the oil and gas production cluster in the north of the region includes the fields of the Payakhskaya group, the Vankor cluster, and the West Irkinsky area. Rosneft plans to launch it by 2024.

As the This is Taimyr wrote earlier, oil fields in the north of the peninsula attract foreign investors. The head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, discussed issues of current and future cooperation with the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Germany to Russia Geza Andreas von Gaire. Rosneft is open to considering various options.
