#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin announced the start of practical implementation of the Vostok Oil project and thanked the head of state for his attention to the project, as well as for the adoption of the law that created investment benefits for the project.
“This made it possible to create an effective economic model. And now I report to you with great pleasure about the start of the practical implementation of the project”, RIA Novosti quotes the head of Rosneft.
As a reminder, Rosneft started prospecting and exploration drilling in Taimyr in spring. The Vostok Oil project provides for the formation of a new oil and gas province on the Taimyr peninsula; its resource base is about 5 billion tons of oil. Vostok Oil combines the resources of the largest fields of the Vankor cluster (Vankor, Suzun, Tagul and Lodochny) and other promising oil fields in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region, such as the Payakhskaya group of fields and the West Irkinsky area.
As we previously wrote, the project for the development of the Payakhskoye oil field is part of the Yenisei Siberia interregional investment program. Payakha’s reserves could potentially make it the largest Russian oil field in history.
