Back in March, the companies held a series of negotiations on reformatting partnerships, considering various possibilities to support Russian Platinum projects and its potential partners.
It is reported that Nornickel will provide Russian Platinum with access to the company’s infrastructure in the Norilsk industrial area on market terms, concluding long-term service contracts for the supply of electricity and other resources, as well as the ability to use the facilities of the logistics infrastructure. In addition, the parties agreed that Nornickel will take over the sale of products produced at the Chernogorskoye field, for which a long-term off-take agreement will be signed. The corresponding binding contracts are planned to be concluded by the end of the first quarter of 2021 after receiving all the necessary corporate approvals.
Nornickel welcomes the long-term strategic partnership with Russian Platinum. Cooperation between the two companies in a new format will give a new impetus to the development of the Norilsk industrial region, as well as provide the scarce platinoid market with the required volume of metals”, said Sergey Dubovitsky, senior vice president, head of strategy and strategic project management, logistics and resource support at Nornickel.
In turn, general director of Russian Platinum Yevgeny Vorobeichik said that his company was aimed at creating a new largest production complex in the NPR (Norilsk industrial district), the first stage of which would be the construction of the Chernogorsky GOK.
“Strategic partnership with Norilsk Nickel will allow the launch of the project in a short time and increase the work step by step”, Vorobeichik emphasized.
Recall that the Chernogorsk platinum-copper-nickel deposit is located 15 kilometers southeast of Norilsk. The license for its development belongs to Russian Platinum. Nornickel and Russian Platinum have been cooperating for several years.
