#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At the Norilsk Nickel Polar Division’s Taimyrsky mine, the implementation of large investment projects continues. One of the strategically important and unique is the project to open and develop two large deposits. Four start-up complexes will be built there aimed at increasing the annual productivity of the mine to 4 million 250 thousand tons by the end of the year.
Taimyrsky was commissioned in 1982. This is the only mine in the Norilsk industrial district that produces only high-grade copper-nickel ores. Over the years of its existence, almost 100 million tons of valuable raw materials have been raised from the earth’s depths. Explored deposits are not endless; geologists provide an increase in retired reserves. They were the first to hold core samples from these deposits and assigned them the status of super-rich. The opening and development of the C-3 and C-4 deposits at the Taimyrsky mine began in 2011 and continues to the present.
New underground treasures lie at a depth of 1500 meters. The mine builders helped to get to them. They laid a network of capital mine workings: transport, ventilation and filling, delivery. The total investment cost at the moment is 20.31 billion rubles.
