The Nornickel company will additionally allocate 150 billion rubles for the development of Norilsk.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. During his working trip to Norilsk, the company’s head Vladimir Potanin visited Oganer – a district of Norilsk, the Norilsk Industrial Institute, the Aika sports hall and other facilities.

At the Aika sports complex, the Nornickel’s president answered the most important questions for the city and outlined the company’s objectives in terms of developing all non-production aspects of life in Norilsk. The head of Norilsk, Dmitry Karasev, also voiced his vision of the prospects for the northern city.

Vladimir Potanin is confident that people will shape the new look of the city and the company.

“Therefore, it is necessary to create the environment in which Norilsk will be favorable for living, and the company will remain a good employer”, he said.

Also, the president of Nornickel said that they had agreed with the city head on additional financial support in the amount of 150 billion rubles. The company will allocate this amount for the renovation of Norilsk, in addition to those funds (81 billion rubles), which will be directed to the socio-economic development of the city within the framework of the quadripartite agreement.

“Today the preparation for the new housing stock construction in Oganer was started. It provides for the creation of a kindergarten and a school there. The next step will be large-scale cleaning of the territory”, said Vladimir Potanin.

According to Potanin, this will improve the city environment not only in terms of living conditions, but also in terms of industrial design.

The company president spoke about the activities in the field of ecology, which will bring the city into a favorable state:

“I hope it will be possible to speak of Norilsk as a clean city”, noted the president of Nornickel.

“It is supposed to remove a huge number of landfills, liquidate abandoned production facilities. The amount of funds allocated is unprecedented. The city also participates in these events: this year its own municipal program on ecology, landscaping and disposal of landfills will be ready. The annual program will develop and grow with funds from the municipal budget”, said the head of Norilsk, Dmitry Karasev.
