The annual productivity of the Taimyrsky mine is now 4.25 million tons. To maintain the volume of ore mining, the enterprise is carrying out a set of work to replenish the raw material base. The project Replenishment of Retired High-grade Ore Mining Capacities during the Development of Deposits C-3, C-4 is aimed at these purposes. It consists of four start-up complexes, the construction completion is scheduled for early 2024.
According to the of the Nornickel Polar branch press office, the first three start-up complexes are planned to be put into operation this year. The work at one of them was completed; in early June, the facility was put into operation. Taimyrsky started mining ore from the commissioned site.
The project started in the first quarter of 2011. During the time, the mine builders have done a tremendous job of developing the network of capital mine workings for various purposes (transport, ventilation and filling, delivery and others). Construction proceeded on the horizons of –1300, –1350, –1400 and –1500 meters. In total, more than 16 kilometers of workings have been covered, 865 thousand tons of rock mass have been broken off.
According to the project, 6.7 kilometers of workings have to be drilled. The installation of the unique air conditioning system in mine workings is also in the plans. To ensure safe operation, over 144 thousand square meters of reinforced combined support was used. Also, 339 sets of arch-compliant support were installed.
The start-up complexes of the project will provide access to ore reserves with a total volume of about 10.5 million tons. After reaching the design capacity, the new underground sections will produce up to 800 thousand tons of ore per year. The total investment cost at the moment is 15.8 billion rubles.
