#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the west, the area where the exploration will be carried out borders on the areas of the joint venture of Gazprom Neft and Shell multinational oil and gas company in the Gydansky peninsula, and in the east – on the areas already owned by the company in Taimyr. Thus, Gazprom Neft may be able to expand the search area for a joint venture with Shell.
“Resources in the Dl category are 64 million tons of oil and 146 billion cubic meters of gas, on D1 + D2 – 20.9 million tons and 130.3 billion cubic meters, respectively. The site is bordered by the Leskinsky site in the west, and the four West Taimyr sites (numbered 1, 6, 7 and 10) belonging to Gazprom Neft. The resources of the Leskinsky area were estimated at 100 million tons, but the company noted back in 2018 that its reserves could “many times exceed the official figures”, Kommersant reports.
According to Mikhail Grigoriev, head of the Gekon consulting center, the expansion of the sites will allow the company to occupy a promising area and avoid possible disputes with other subsoil users.
“If the Ust-Yeniseisky block adjoins the previously licensed blocks of Gazprom Neft onshore, then the increase in the area of prospecting and appraisal work is absolutely correct”, the expert noted.
