#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The chairman of the Nornickel directors board Gareth Penny arrived in Norilsk to personally get acquainted with the progress of work on the most important projects of the company in the NID. He inspected the work on eliminating the consequences of the accident at CHPP-3, and also got acquainted with the first results of the Clean Norilsk project.
In the spring and summer, the Nornickel Polar Division landscaping enterprise cleared more than 750 thousand square meters of the Norilsk industrial district from construction waste, scrap metal and dilapidated buildings.
In addition, the Nornickel directors board chairman visited the area of the Nadezhdinsky metallurgical plant, where the production area cleaning up and unexploited buildings dismantling began in July. To implement the program, they purchased road-building machines, excavators, bulldozers, all-terrain equipment for cleaning the tundra zone, automobile transport, and mobile cranes.
Within the project, it is planned to dismantle 13 unexploited buildings. The area to be cleaned is 150 thousand square meters.
“We confirm our commitment to transform Norilsk into a clean city, continuing working on six major initiatives that relate to various environmental areas: air, water, soil and others. And today I am glad to see the progress that the company has already achieved”, said Gareth Penny.
For the Clean Norilsk large-scale program of the industrial zones sanitary cleaning, which started in April this year, Nornickel has allocated more than 40 billion rubles.
