Tourists travel to Arctic for cold

June 21, 2024

Each region of the Arctic should be recognizable.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Global warming, in addition to all the negative processes, creates additional competitive advantages for the development of tourism in the Far North. Christopher Konstantinidi, director of the Research Institute of Economics and Management of Sustainable Tourism Development of SSU, spoke about this.

“People don’t want to be in the south during the peak of summer, in the heat, they want to relax in the North, where it’s comfortable and cool, they go for the cold. The trend is when Arabs come to Moscow. This is an opportunity to get an international tourist here in the North”, he said at the Sever-Press press center.

Interest in the Arctic has grown significantly in recent years. Now five percent of the total tourist flow is in the Arctic direction.

According to experts, each region of the Arctic should be highlighted and recognizable: it is necessary to present gastronomy and unique territories.

Earlier, we reported that the lack of developed infrastructure on the Yenisey is so far compensated for by the atmosphere of a ‘wild expedition’, and the tour to Dudinka topped the ranking in terms of cost in Russia.
