The document provides for the construction of gas power plants and an electric grid complex for the Vostok Oil project oil and gas fields energy supply in Taimyr.
“The document is aimed at providing electric energy to a group of oil fields, as well as objects of external oil and gas transport, a loading terminal at North Bay, berths and other Vostok Oil infrastructure facilities,” the Rosneft report said.
Vostok Oil is a major project for the development of northern deposits. Rosneft has already begun exploration drilling in Taimyr. The implementation of this project could lead to the emergence of an independent oil and gas province on the peninsula with its own infrastructure. To provide it with electricity, it will take up to 2.5 GW of capacity and several thousand kilometers of electricity.
Analysts suggest that the construction of a new energy network could cost up to 200 billion rubles. The parties did not disclose the source of investment. Inter RAO, one of the largest energy companies in the country, will design, purchase equipment and build. The scope of its activities includes the production and sale of electric and thermal energy, the design and construction of energy facilities. The holding ranks third in the Russian industry in terms of installed capacity and provides for the generation of more than 11% of electricity in the UES of Russia. It is the only Russian electricity export and import operator.
