#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. This year, two festivals – creativity and crafts – met on the territory of the City Cultural Center.
For the first time, the Polar Wonders Shop became part of a large-scale festival of author’s creativity, which brought together Norilsk craftsmen, bards, musicians, stand-up comedians, and creative people from other cities of the country.
Norilsk residents were able not only to listen to music, vocals and masters of the spoken genre, but also to visit a fair of works by original Norilsk creators to give gifts to loved ones, and at the same time help eight-year-old Yusif Gurbanov, a ward of the 69th Parallel charity foundation.
As a partner of the City Cultural Center, the foundation gathered more than 30 masters of decorative and applied arts for the festival Polar Wonders Shop. They presented their unique works made in various techniques of decorative and applied arts: epoxy resin, leatherwork, felting, glass, many symbols of the coming 2025 – snakes and so on.
In two days, the foundation managed to collect 81 440 rubles for Yusif’s rehabilitation. The full course costs 334 100 rubles. For a family where only the father works, this is a very large sum.
The boy was born prematurely. Almost immediately, he was diagnosed with hypoxia, and later doctors said that he had cerebral palsy. Despite his illness, Yusif is growing up active and inquisitive. He strives to learn about the world with all his might. And his parents help him with this. The boy attended classes under the 69th Parallel program Unlimited Possibilities, and his parents paid for it. After a complex operation, he needs a new rehabilitation course, and now funds are being raised for it.
You can learn about Yusif and ways to help him on the website of the 69th Parallel Foundation.
Volunteers Elena Ordyntseva and Maria Galayda were the faces of the 69th Parallel foundation this time and told all the guests of the fair about their location and about Yusif.
“As part of the Polar Wonders Shop festival, the Podaroshnaya fair (eng.: Gift Fair) was held. At it, Norilsk craftsmen share their works, thereby creating a festive mood for people and giving them joy. Our foundation’s site presents items that have received a second life after recycling. These are items made from recycled plastic caps, works by the upcycling studio, the Yesche raz workshop, as well as rare items that city residents share with us. For example, old Christmas tree decorations and badges from the USSR. All the money raised from this fair will go to pay for the rehabilitation course of Yusif Gurbanov, a ward of the 69th Parallel”, said Elena Ordyntseva.
“You can find truly unique things at the fair. For example, a parachute club, which unfortunately closed, gave us parachutes, and we made reusable shoe covers from them. Things made from melted plastic, handmade jewelry made of leather and plaster are interesting. There are a lot of interesting things on our stands, and you can please yourself and your loved ones with them”, explains Maria.
We will add that this was not the last Gift Fair this year, and those who did not get to it will be able to visit the pre-New Year fair and give gifts to their loved ones, and at the same time help raise funds for the rehabilitation of Yusif Gurbanov and other wards of the 69th Parallel foundation.
