#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Architects plan to build a glass temple in the Arctic, in the village of Teriberka, Murmansk region, based on the appearance of a previously existing church from the late 18th century. This was reported by the press service of NIA Zapolyarye.
The building concept will be presented at the ARCH Moscow international exhibition of architecture and design in Moscow at the end of May.
As the project authors said, the image of the lost Blessed Virgin Mary Assumption Church in Kondopoga (Republic of Karelia) will be taken as the basis for the glass and wood church.
“In the project, we are rethinking the traditional appearance of the temple, taking into account the characteristics of the unique place – Teriberka, and what is most important, we are creating a space for the unity of people, regardless of their views and confessions”, the authors of the project emphasized.
It is clarified that due to the fact that glass will be one of the main materials in the construction, it will be possible to observe the northern lights from the temple.
